2011 Issues Survey

For me to be an effective voice for our community at the State House, I need to know your thoughts and concerns. Please take the time to complete this questionnaire and tell me what you think about the issues facing our community and State.

Do you support a constitutional amendment to prohibit the Governor, his/her cabinet secretary or the General Assembly from raiding a Trust Fund set up for a specific purpose to help meet budget deficits?
Should voters be required to provide some form of picture identification when they go to vote?
Should the South Carolina Constitution be amended to allow voters comprising 15 percent of the turnout in the previous General Election to petition and trigger a recall election of elected public officials and Judges?
Should the South Carolina Constitution be amended to allow 15 percent of the electorate as comprised in the previous General Election to initiate a referendum for the passage of a law?
Should State government executive officials be held personally responsible for knowingly spending more than authorized by law or appropriated to their agency by the General Assembly?
If you answered yes to the above, do you think they should face criminal charges with jail time or civil charges resulting in fines?
Should South Carolina adopt an immigration reform law similar to Arizona’s so police are authorized to request identification for citizenship or legal status when a person is arrested for committing a crime?
Should the Mark Clark freeway extension be built only as an expressway?
Should State law be amended to restrict the South Carolina Department of Revenue from expanding the application of a tax by interpretation or regulation unless the expansion is approved by the General Assembly?
Should the Governor’s cabinet secretary for Health and Human Services be allowed to run a deficit for Medicaid services?
